Mistletoe Blues

Is your kisser mistletoe ready? Or does winter have you all chapped and peely? Here's something to try! My lips are pretty sensitive to this winter weather, we don't like this season very much. I gave Tarte Maracuja Lip Exfoliant a try and it worked like a charm! I swear this stuff is magic. Normally I will do the Vaseline on my lips trick at night for softer lips but in the winter it just isn’t enough. I highly recommend this witch magic.... I mean, lip exfoliant!

1. NYX Auto Eyebrow pencil- Fantastically inexpensive and great for Frugal Fannies
2. SEPHORA Retractable Brow Pencil - Waterproof and slim! This brow pencil is the less expensive version of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, It just doesn't come in as many colors and the brush at the end isn't as fancy. I like how slim the pencil is, it makes it easier to mimic brow hair.
3. MAC Eyebrows- Current favorite! Very similar to Sephoras Retractable brow pencil. Slim and easy to use.
4. Makeup Forever Aquabrow- This brow liquid is better for gals that are more confident in their application skills! With this you will need a brush: try MAC's #209 brow brush. (<- Fabulous buy) One thing I love about Aqua brow is, it stays put until you wash it off!

I am always open to trying new mascara options, I have a hard time picking favorites. Younique fiber lashes is amazing! Putting it on does take some getting used to. Once you get the hang of it you can definitely make your lashes BIG! My first try was a little shaky.

When you order it comes with 2 tubes in a cute little box. The larger tube is the gel and the smaller tube are the loose fibers. What you do is: put on 1 coat of your normal mascara (not necessary but this is what i did in the photos above and it is what the instructions it came with said) then you apply the gel coat from the middle of your lashes to the tip. You do not want to apply from base to tip because some peoples eyes might get irritated from the fibers. The last step is you take the smaller tube with the fibers and apply them to where you just applied the gel. You may repeat the last 2 steps to make your lashes bigger and bigger.

 

 As some of you know I am almost a daily falsie wearer, but his mascara gives you mega volume so falsies are pretty much unnecessary. I for one am not ready to break up with my lash strips, HOWEVER, this Fiber lash mascara is my new ultimate favorite for my bottom lashes! I mean, look how awesome they look! After I put it on I went and asked my boyfriend and asked him if he notices anything different as I batted my eyelashes and he said, "Your lashes look way thicker!" -That will make any girls day!

FIERCE

 Last week while at MAC I got a surprise makeup appointment with Joelle. An even bigger part of this surprise was it was for her ENGAGEMENT PARTY!!! Excitement flooded my heart! In the Lebanese culture Engagement parties are a big whoop! I was beyond pumped to get to work with Joelle to make her ultra glam! Joelle was looking for a dramatic cat eye similar to the picture above. My go to look seems to be somewhat in the middle of dramatic and natural. I normally tend to stick with accentuating natural beauty, then again most of the time the makeup I am doing is wedding with the occasional pinup. I was pumped for this dramatic challenge because its something I don't get to do too often! All of the products used were MAC Cosmetics.

My skin perfecting army:

{from left to right}

• Prep + Prime BB Compact- Solid cream formula that perfects, protects, evens out and illuminates the complexion for flawless results.
• Studio Sculpt Foundation- Medium/Build able coverage with a satin finish. This is great for dry skin but also helps with oil control and will not make you break out. I would use this on most skin types.
• Prep + Prime Eye-Smooths textures, neutralizes lid colour. Use under eye shadow, pigments, paints and concealers.
• Studio Finish Concealer- A lightweight, creamy, discreetly opaque concealer. Provides a smooth, long-wearing invisible coverage for all skin blemishes. It is also water-resistant!

Glam Eyed

• In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash- adds volume, extends length and creates curl, while conditioning for softness and flexibility. The final result: extreme dimension that won't smudge, clump or flake.
• 36 Lash- Originally launched as Sultress Lashes. Full lash, creates a naturally dramatic look
• Duo Eyelash glue
• Scotch tape!!! To get those nice sharp cat eye angles (not sold at MAC)
• 3 of the Pressed Pigment eyeshadows (not pictured) blended from inner corner to outer- Angelic (bright off white with shimmer), Enlightening (deep silver), and Jet Couture (black with thick pieces of glitter) On top of Angelic I lightened it up with Gesso eyeshadow which is a vivid white matte.
• I deepened the top and bottom corners with Devine Night Kohl Power eye pencil in Feline. It was only fitting to use Feline for this look ;)

Star Light Star Bright

This post is for Lush fans or bath lovers in general. However, if you're a bath lover but not a lush fan, I think you're weird. Lush bathbombs, bathmelts and bubble bars are heaven. Indulge.

This past weekend was a MAC weekend for me, so naturally I had to stop in Lush and stock up. There was so much new bombs/melts so many cool ones. This one is amazing!!! If you do not like glitter/sparkles/shimmer this is NOT for you!

 

What Lush blabs about:

My take:

I didn't crush it under the running water as suggested. I plopped it into the bath and watched it spin around. That is just what I like to do because I am 27 going on 4. You can put it in however you want. I like to watch them melt. So first all the glitter bursts out everywhere and its fabulous. Under the glitter is more of a bath bomb type texture going on and it smells like those hand wipes they give you at restaurants (I am not complaining, I personally like it--that's just what it smells like in my opinion). In the center of the white fizzy star there is a blob of turquoise jelly like substance. I believe the gel is what is supposed to turn your bath that color (doi). They claim the smell is what sends the good vibes but for me I am almost positive it was the silver glitter specks EVERYWHERE. When I got out of the bath my body was COVERED in glitter <- this makes me happy! I got glitter all over my black leather couch <- even happier! The only thing that didn't make me happy was the gross silver ring it left around my tub. It was very easy to remove/clean, however. And hey, at least it was a ring of glitter.

Makeup Talk

Every year just in time for the Holidays, MAC comes out with a variety of mini kits. There are brush kits, lip kits, eye kits, and even face kits. Normally I go for the brush kits and sometimes the lip kits because it is such a great deal. This year I've accumulated more than enough brushes and the lip kits are colors that I already own. This year I decided to go for something new: Nocturnals Pigments.

Years ago I had purchased a copper pigment from Benefit cosmetics which is JUST NOW running out. It has lasted me a long while (most likely because I don't turn to copper shimmer for a daily look) and it was one of the most gorgeous colors I've ever owned, I always got compliments when I wore it. For you brown, hazel and green eyed ladies: copper makes our eyes pop! I was excited to see that there was a copper color in this years MAC Nocturnal Pigments kit. The Black and Gold kit was an easy sell on me for that reason alone. Above I have taken a picture with flash (top) and without flash (bottom) so you could get a good look at what comes in the Black and Gold series. Starting from the left moving to the right we have: Naked pigment, Museum Bronze pigment, Gold glitter, Copper Sparkle, and Black (large) glitter.

 

Naked is a fleshy beige with pearl (matte)

Museum Bronze is a rich taupe with gold pearl (frost)

Gold is sparkly chunky gold (glitter)

Copper Sparkle is super frosty copper flecks (frost)

Black is sparkle chunky black (glitter)

 

My take on them all:

Naked is one of the popular MAC eye shadows it is a very basic color that you could wear daily. Museum bronze I would use for a smokey eye, liner or cut crease, this is another color that I could wear somehow daily. The gold glitter I have a liquid NYX liner of the same. I feel that you can put gold glitter on top of anything its pretty. I can see the gold glitter lasting me a while, a little bit goes a long way. The Copper sparkle is easily my favourite. I just love how shimmery it is. It is very easy to apply and like the others you do not need alot of it. I love MAC pigments ! If you have never tried MAC pigments I suggest you do so, I wish I could have every color they are so saturated with color its amazing. Lastly we have the black glitter, can I just say this stuff is messy!? Extremely difficult to remove unlike the other four. I tried it last night, my makeup wipes only pushed the glitter chunks around my face and did not get them all off. Tried scrubbing my face in the shower and I still have tiny random black dots everywhere. The black glitter is a nuisance. However, I could see using the Black glitter for a fashion shoot, or maybe layered on top of a deep black smokey eye, so the black glitter is not a total loss. For $32.00 this pigment kit is a killer deal and they come in other colors too. I would definitely recommend it to you makeup connoisseurs and makeup enthusiasts.

VAMPIRES!

I had a super spooky weekend! I played with Vampires on Saturday and Zombies on Sunday! I am lucky I didn't get bit!

My sister from another mister's Brother...aka brother from another Mother & His beautious Wife hosted a Halloween party Saturday night and wanted to go all out so they hired me to do their makeup and hair! Their couples theme was vampires!!

For both of these looks I used a fair skin tone foundation that was about 1 shade lighter than Eric's natural tone and 3 Shades lighter than Vanessa's because vampires as most of us know are pale because they VANT YOUR BLOOD! I used black eyeliner. I used the vampiest lashes I could find! Red lipstick lined with a mix of black and wine colored lipliner, BLOOD! Morticians wax for the bite wounds, black and red eyeshadow, and a brown brow pencil for both. 

I added some OOMPH to Vanessa's look with red glitter.To get glitter to stick and stay it is best to use a light layer of eyelash glue then apply your glitter. The red glitter can be found on BHcosmetics.com

 

Invisible Woman

Pardon my invisibility!! I have been mega-busy with this Halloween project! It has consumed my brain, but hey; we've been making some pretty cool things happen!! I've met with a number of awesome brides and they've all looked so lovely! I'm such a sap, I OFTEN need to blink back tears on wedding days. Who doesn't love a beautiful woman? Nothing wrong with that! Pinup Desires

This Makeup Monday post is a shoutout and thank you to The SOPHA Community, Dastardly Dave Photography, Kelly Killbilly, Karyna Woods, Pinup Desires, Hillary Wonderland, & Strange Beauty Bombshell!!! I had a wonderful day yesterday.

This launch is so exciting and I am thrilled for Pinup Desires new endeavor!! The clothing line is gorgeous and the accessories are fabulous as always! If you haven't heard of Pinup Desires, well you have now!!!

The photographer, Dastardly Dave, was amazing, the models were gorgeous, the hair and wardrobe styling was on point! I am thrilled to be part of this shoot and so excited to see all the pictures!

This weekend I got to spend a half day of beauty with Chrissy. Not all the pictures below are hair done and makeup done but we teamed up for a wedding out yonder. She's leaving NH for New Orleans chasing down new adventure and journeys; I want to wish her the best! I hope that she comes across more vintage fanatics, meets great people, and does lots of retro do's. You know you got some serious skills when you can make people tear up over how beautiful they feel. Chrissy and I make a great team and she will be missed until she visits again. Bon-Voyage Chrissy & thanks for being my wing woman this weekend!
